This vase is built from eight separate, wheel-thrown pieces. Blended underglazes fade from purple to pink, and are textured and carved to create intricate patterns and design. Finally, the top layer glaze is in a translucent white, softening the underglaze shades and lightening the exposed raw clay in the carved areas.
